Intestinal neurons in acute and chronic rejection after small bowel transplantation in dogs.

چکیده
THE mechanisms responsible for the altered neuromus1. cular activity that results in the impaired motility of small bowel transplant recipients are incompletely understood. Autotransplantation studies in small l or large2 animals have shown that harvesting process, preservation, and reperfusion may impair the function of the enteric nervous system during small bowel transplantation. It is not known, however, whether the immunologic events and vasculopathy that occur during acute and chronic rejection cause further damage to the enteric nervous system.

The effect of small bowel transplantation on the morphology and physiology of intestinal muscle: a comparison of autografts versus allografts in dogs.
The effects of acute (AR) and chronic rejection (CR) on intestinal smooth muscle that are responsible for the dysmotility following small bowel transplantation (SBTX) are incompletely understood. Jejunal and ileal specimens from normal control dogs (n=7), and autotransplanted dogs were examined at 7 days (n=6) and 1 (n=7), 3 (n=6), 6 (n=6), and 12 months (n=6). Allotransplanted dogs that develo...
متن کاملAdvances in small bowel transplantation.
Small bowel transplantation is a life-saving surgery for patients with intestinal failure. The biggest problem in intestinal transplantation is graft rejection. Graft rejection is the main reason for morbidity and mortality. Rejection has a negative effect on the survival of the graft. While 50%-75% of small bowel transplantation patients experience acute rejection, chronic rejection occurs in ...
متن کاملبررسی میزان بقا پیوند کلیه در کودکان مبتلا به اختلالات دستگاه ادراری تحتانی در بیمارستان لبافینژاد
Background & Aim: Previously, patients with end stage renal failure(ESRF) and lower urinary tract abnormality(LUTA) were often considered high risk for renal transplantation. In order to examine the degree of risk, 48 patients who received renal transplants in Labafi Nejad Hospital were evaluated between 1986 and 2003. Patients & Method: In this retrospective cohort study, the mean age of t...
متن کاملReduction of Acute Rejection by Bone Marrow Mesenchymal Stem Cells during Rat Small Bowel Transplantation
BACKGROUND Bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells (BMMSCs) have shown immunosuppressive activity in transplantation. This study was designed to determine whether BMMSCs could improve outcomes of small bowel transplantation in rats. METHODS Heterotopic small bowel transplantation was performed from Brown Norway to Lewis rats, followed by infusion of BMMSCs through the superficial dorsal veins of t...
متن کاملNumber of serotonin positive cells and acute cellular rejection in the early period after small bowel transplantation in pigs.
BACKGROUND Small bowel transplantations (SBT) are being increasingly performed to treat patients with irreversible intestinal failure or short-bowel syndrome. Histologic evaluation of small bowel allograft biopsies is important for the diagnosis of acute cellular rejection (ACR). Serotonin (5-hydroxytriptamin) is a biogenous amine of which up to 95% is present in the enterochromaffin cells of t...
